Former President of the American Rental Association (ARA), Skip Evans has been intimately involved in the equipment rental industry for over 30 years. After attending the University of Minnesota, and completing additional computer training, Skip began his career as a systems designer for the Control Data Corporation. With Control Data, he designed and built supercomputers; he received several awards for improving the efficiency and profitability of his division through effective management and identification and implementation of many cost control measures. While still with Control Data, Skip continued his career development by entering into the equipment rental industry as an owner of Zodiac Rentals. Skip purchased Zodiac Rentals, with a partner, in 1974 and over the next 22 years, expanded the business by purchasing/opening an additional 7 stores. Skip's role during this period was Chief Operating Officer; his "hands on" style was well-received by both management and staff.
In 1996, Skip joined RentX Industries, Inc. as Vice President of Acquisitions. He was promoted to Chief Operating Officer and then President and Chief Executive Officer for his ability to turn the troubled company into a very profitable one. With RentX, Skip evaluated many businesses and determined their value as a RentX acquisition. He also managed all aspects of the acquisition process and the steps to branding the new business as a "RentX" store.
In 2002, Skip joined with Sarah Waite to form Evans, Waite Business Solutions, LLC. His background in owning and operating his own rental stores and his extensive experience in acquisitions for a key player in the industry provide him with a unique industry perspective. This perspective has enabled him to effectively serve clients in a wide range of areas from helping clients to establish and grow a profitable rental business to providing appraisals to clients considering a sale, to assisting them in all aspects of the business sales process.
